GIS Fair 2010

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is hosting the second annual Geographic Information Science (GIS) Fair on Friday November 19, 2010. The event will be held from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Illini Union in Illlini Rooms A-C.

On November 19th a number of units of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign are hosting the second annual GIS Fair "Location, Knowledge, Action - At Illinois, the Geographic Information Sciences are Everywhere." This event will draw attention to the rich activities relating to GIS across the University and within corporations and local governments and is designed to work for both the beginner and advanced GIS technician.

This year's theme is building a GIS community and we have a new added
dimension to the program to include a GIS clinic where individuals can
receive advice on their projects from other GIS users.

The planned schedule for November 19th's events:

  • 10:00-10:15 Welcome by Illinois Informatics Institute Director John
  • 10:15-11:15 Keynote by Dr. Todd Presner
  •  11:30-12:30 Morning Session: Lightning Talk Presentations; Event Hall
  • 12:30-1:00 Break/pizza and soft drinks
  • 1:10-2:45 Afternoon Session: Lightning Talk Presentations; Event Hall; GIS Clinic
  • 3:00 Prize drawing and awards for the GPS Rally
  • 6:00 Informal reception; location TBA
